When your client calls the day after the opening party to describe the design as the best free-standing clubhouse he’s ever seen—anywhere—you know you've truly nailed it! Originally planned as a condo project, the site had no provision for a leasing building, leaving us with the challenge of fitting everything into a tight space. The only logical spot for this was a small triangular-shaped area, but it was too cramped to fit all the desired amenities and a pool. So, we went upwards. Adding a second floor not only provided the extra square footage we needed but also created a generous balcony space for sunbathing.

We had a great time playing with different levels within the conditioned spaces, as well as shaping the design of the pool area, taking inspiration from Barragán's iconic courtyards and covered rooms. Working closely with the architect, we overcame numerous challenges, including controlling temperature and light—crucial in the desert environment. Additionally, we designed nearly all the furniture in-house and even created much of the artwork, adding our personal touch to every detail.
