Who We Are

A.P.T. Design Studio is proudly owned and operated by Martin Langmead. After completing his Bachelor of Arts degree (with Honors) in Interior Design at the Chelsea College of Art and Design in London (United Kingdom), Martin traveled the world and while backpacking in Australia, met his wife Tammy, a California native. On returning to the U.K., Martin worked on various restaurant and nightclub projects before settling into a role with Richard Welchman Design. While there, he focused primarily on “Themed” spaces.
In 1998, Martin relocated to Santa Barbara, California. He worked for a short time with Architect Peter Walker Hunt, before moving to San Diego, California with Tammy, daughter Aveline and son Max.
Martin commenced a nine-year relationship with Fairfield Residential, LLC, one of the top Multi-family developers in the country. Starting with the (then) newly formed Redevelopment Team, he became responsible for “anything design-related” on all projects, including theming/branding, exterior colors and materials, architectural modifications (or designing buildings from the ground up), signage, models, and most importantly, dealt with the design and redesign of the amenity areas (such as leasing offices, clubhouses, business centers, fitness centers and so on).
His success with the redevelopment projects, soon lead to his involvement with Fairfield’s West Coast new construction apartment and condominium projects. With the help of his team, Martin managed in excess of 120 jobs at any given time and, in all, managed more than 300 Multi-family projects (typically averaging between 85-250+/- units each) nationwide.
At the start of 2007, Martin created A.P.T. Design Studio, which continued to work on Fairfield Residential projects, but expanded its Client base, working with other Multi-family Developers and Owners, including, but not limited to, Avalon Bay Communities, LCOR, Greystar, Alliance, Interwest Capital, FPI Management, Shapell and others.
